What is a Forex Practice Account?

A Forex practice account is a game or simulation of the market and is a good place to practice without risking real money. These accounts should be free, if your broker is trying to get money out of you for one just say no thanks and find another broker.

For the most part these accounts will last for about a month, some are longer some and some are shorter. It just depends on the broker you choose to open your account. Some brokers will actually let you continue to use the account for a longer time. It just depends on who you talk to.

Why would you want to use one? Well like I said before it’s a good way to practice without losing out on your own money. It’s also a good platform to develop and learn strategies that work for you in the market. In the demo account you can take some risks and see what the outcomes are so when you are in the real market you will know what to expect.

U.S. Dollar Forecast

It’s living up to its reputation. The Bar Au Lac hotel is going to run me more than 640 Swiss franc a night. And I scribbled down the prices of what I ate for lunch at the Brasserie Lipp “Salad with Asparagus” (28.50 francs) and “Grilled Beef Filet” (49.50 francs).

In plain English, that means my hotel is over $500 dollars a night and those two lunch selections ended up running over $60 bucks. Ouch!
Wait a minute! Now, before you give me a hard time for spending too much, let me just tell you, this is the way it is in Zurich. I wonder about the U.S. dollar forecast, since the U.S. dollar is worthless here.

While everyone talks of a dollar crash, this trip to Zurich is more evidence that the dollar has already crashed. Europe is outrageously expensive. And some time soon, the exchange rates between Europe and the U.S. will move back in line meaning the euro (and Swiss franc) will fall, and the dollar will rise.
You Can’t Buy Nothin’
Two classic gauges of prices around the world are a cab ride from the airport and high-speed internet access These are not “prized” activities; these are part of everyday international business. And here, yet again, Zurich proves it’s outrageous.

Our 10-minute cab ride from the airport to the Bar Au Lac was $50 bucks. Now again, don’t think I’m living high on the hog - this wasn’t some sort of limo or black car service. It was a dingy (for Swiss standards), small, old white European van (if you’ve been in Europe, you know the little vans I’m talking about). Fifty dollars!

And you won’t believe internet service. I pay about $40 bucks a month at home for high-speed Internet. Here in

Switzerland, it’s over $40 a day! No joke! Since the city of Zurich is wireless, the hotel doesn’t have wireless access for guests. So I have to pay SwissCom daily for wireless access.
Of course, if you sign up for a week’s access, they’ll give you a discount 200 francs for the week. That’s $167 dollars in a week for high-speed internet!
The U.S. Dollar Forecast: Why the Buck Could Strengthen by 20% or More
I track three primary indicators for currencies.

• Interest rates. All things being equal, the country with the higher yields will see its currency rise versus the country with the lower yield (deposits in the U.S. pay nearly 3%, while Swiss ones pay less than 1%).

• Purchasing power. When one developed country’s currency is significantly out of line with another developed country’s currency, it’s like a stretched rubber band - things return to “normal” over time. (A Big Mac in Switzerland, for example, is 82% more expensive than a Big Mac in the States, according to The Economist magazine).

• The underlying trend. Trends in currencies tend to stay in motion for longer than people think. In 2005, the trend in the European currencies has been down versus the dollar, but so far the fall has been minimal and there’s plenty more room on the downside in the euro and the Swiss franc.

Of course, Switzerland is an extreme case. With the exception of the dollar’s massive rise in the mid-1980s, Switzerland has always been more expensive than the U.S. - by about 30%. The currency markets seem to like the stable, conflict-free economy with a solid legal system and a country with significant gold reserves.

A Day in the Life of a Forex Trader

Any professional forex trader has the potential to make massive returns from their initial investment or on the nastier side any trader can make massive losses. It is not a game of chance, trading is a skill of emotional control and sound decision making. Traders have an understanding of market mechanics and their behaviour as a response of economic trends.

Traders make their living from taking advantage of price differences between the buy and sell price of currency pairs and more importantly they make their money by following the market trend. If you yourself have studies forex charts you may notice how the price fluctuates - there are only three directions the price can do: rise, fall or stay the same. Currency prices only stay the same if the currency value is not floated and fixed to a certain value. Traders make their money on the difference on price so the trader can either buy long and hope the currency rises or sell short as the currency drops in price and still makes a profit.

The advanced forex trader waits for a new trade or rather waits for the right time to open a new trade by looking for the right indicators and signs to signal an entry into the foreign exchange market.
There are two things that the forex trader can do at home to watch out for an entry signal: look at charts or wait for news.
Traders watch for the right trending signals to enter a trade. And the primary rule for the trader is that the trend is your friend. Stick to the trend and you wont get hurt.

Learning About The Forex Market

Money is required for you to be able to provide a comfortable life for your family. This is why you work, and this is why people put up businesses. It is true that earning money can be difficult for the average person. However, it is way better than depending on the government to provide you with food.
People have ambitions that demand hard work. Depending only on welfare can never make your dreams come true.

If you are a normal person, who earns a decent salary but still wants to earn extra cash in order for you to afford that dream vacation advertised on the TV ad or perhaps buy that huge TV you have always wanted, you should consider investing your savings.
Investing your savings can only mean two things. Either you can make it grow, or lose it all. It may have some risks but if you do it correctly, you can really make a lot of money and afford those things you never thought you could ever have.

One great way to invest your money in is by investing it in the largest, most liquid financial market in the world. This kind of market is referred to as the Forex market. In this market, you just have to buy and sell currencies of the world with hopes of making a profit. The point of all this is that you have to buy low and sell high in order to make a profit out of your investment. Here’s a clearer explanation on what traders do in the Forex market. For example, when a trader purchases a particular currency at a cheap price, the trader will expect the value to rise. Once the value of the particular currency he or she sells rises as expected, you can sell it at a much higher price, therefore, getting your investment back together with the profit.
Trading in Forex will require you to trade in pairs. Because when you purchase currency, you sell another at the same time. There are many currency pairs in the Forex market. However, the most commonly traded currency pairs in the Forex market are: USD/GBP, USD/JPY, USD/CHF, and GBP/USD. These four are the most popular currency pairs traded in the Forex market and where people has more chances to gain income.

Although trading in the Forex market can really give you the chance of making a lot of money, it is also true that you can also lose a lot of money. This is because Forex is traded on margin. For example, with a 1 percent margin, your 1000 dollars can give you leverage of 1000 dollars. This means that your rate of return will be 100 percent of each percentage change upwards. However, your loss will also be identically great if the market conditions went against you.
This is why you need to have the proper skills and knowledge about the Forex market before you enter it. Also, you need to understand that when you invest in this market, make sure you can afford to lose what you invest. This is not necessarily attractive but if you want to make money, you also have to be prepared to lose money.

If you are an inexperienced Forex trader, you should consider hiring a Forex broker and analysts to guide you in your money-making business. You can also consider opening a demo account or taking a Forex trading course in your local business school or in online schools.
Knowing the basics in Forex trading can be very helpful. So, try and look for some time where you can practice your trading skills and strategies in demo accounts or undertaking Forex trading courses.

These are the things you should know about Forex trading and the Forex market. If you want to go and make that money you need for any reasons, try investing in the Forex market. If you do it right, you can be sure that you can earn a lot of money through Forex trading.
Always take in mind that on whatever things you invest in, whether it would be a business or in the world’s largest financial market, you should always remember that there would always be associated risks.

Forex Trading is Booming!

Currency Trading has experienced phenomenal growth in recent years as many investors are looking for ways to profit from the lucrative 1.5 trillion currency trading marketplace. And author/professional trader Peter Bain is the ideal authority to help you understand and profit from this complex marketplace. His Forex Course teaches the same system used by banks, financial institutions and professional Forex traders alike to trade currencies on the foreign exchange. For the first time, Peter's making his "Commercial Forex Trading" system available to the public in the form of a video currency trading course. Peter Bain’s video course is a complete trading solution. Let Peter will show you the trading techniques used by the commercial institutions and banks.

To involve in FOREX trading, you must similarly prime your mind to get ideas flowing. The various ideas in your mind are stored in a hierarchical structure. Information is stored together in a group, depending on its meaning. It's hard to bring information about that topic into consciousness when you aren't thinking of a particular topic; it depends on their stagnant and hidden. When you put effort to think carefully about a specific topic, or a closely related topic, and start running througha bunch of possibilities, all kinds of new possibilities become transparent. Various concepts andideas, almost unconsciously are scan through your mind.

This wealth of information combines will create a new. For example, suppose you get an indefinite trading idea about how a set of indicatorsmay forecast the price of a particular stock. Once you get the basic idea in your mind, you can prime your mind to get the creative juices flowing. For instant, scan a set of charts to back test and find support for your hypothesis.
Once you look through the charts, you will prompt to other related information after seeing at the information. Yet the idea soon will leak out, and you'll make a new discovery as this is a basis for a new trading strategy.

Euro Pushes Higher Ahead of Busy Economic Calendar

Euro Pushes Higher Ahead of Busy Economic Calendar, US Fed Rate Decision (Euro Open)

The Euro continued to push higher against the US dollar in overnight trading, breaching beyond the 1.37 level. Japanese service demand unexpectedly rose in October, while minutes from the last RBA reinforced expectations of a likely pause in rate cuts. Forex traders face economic data overkill in European trading hours, with the UK Consumer Price Index release headlining the calendar.

Key Overnight Developments
• Japanese Service Demand Unexpectedly Rises in October

• RBA Minutes Reiterate Likely Pause in Interest Rate Cuts

Critical Levels

The Euro continued to push higher in overnight trading, breaching beyond the 1.37 level. The British Pound consolidated in an atypically narrow 43-pip range around the 1.53 mark. Technical positioning suggests the US Dollar may be nearing a reversal as a measure of the greenback’s value against six top currencies tests critical support levels.

Asia Session Highlights

Japan’s Tertiary Industry Index surprised to the upside, showing service demand grew 0.4% in October. The result marks the first positive reading for the metric in three months, beating economists’ calls for a -0.2% decline. Still, traders are unlikely to see much follow-through. Yesterday’s Tankan survey saw business confidence fall to the lowest since 1999 in the fourth quarter on declining demand for Japanese cars and electronics. This will likely compound existing weakness in the labor market as firms cut back capacity, weighing on wages, incomes, and consequently pushing consumer spending lower.

The minutes from the last meeting of the Reserve Bank of Australia offered little in new insights. The RBA slashed rates by a greater than expected 1% this month but signaled policy will shift to neutral going forward. Governor Glenn Stevens said that “a major easing in monetary policy…together with spending measures announced by the Government and a large fall in the Australian dollar” will support demand over the year ahead. Stevens had previously suggested that the impressive magnitude of recent rate cuts, a full 3% since early September, was designed to quickly offer the necessary stimulus without extending rate cut expectations too far into 2009, thereby avoiding inflationary pressure from continued AUD depreciation.

Euro Session: What to Expect

Forex traders face economic data overkill in European trading hours, with the UK Consumer Price Index release headlining the calendar. Expectations call for a monthly drop of -0.3% to bring headline inflation to 3.9% in the year to November, the lowest since June. This means the pace of price growth will have declined close to 26% in just two months having peaked in September. The rapid pace of disinflation coupled with atypically aggressive rate cuts from the Bank of England has seen traders pare back expectations of future easing: overnight index swaps now price in just 50 basis points in rate cuts over the next 12 months having called for 175bps less than 2 weeks ago. The BOE has trimmed a hefty 3% off borrowing costs in a mere 2 months, most recently by 1% earlier this month.

EUR/USD Trading the U.S. Non-Farms Payrolls Release

U.S. Non-Farm payrolls are expected to contract another 330K in November after falling 240K in the previous month, and may trigger a selloff in the dollar as labor conditions deteriorate further.

Trading the News: US Change in Non-Farm Payrolls

What’s Expected Time of release: 12/05/2008 13:30 GMT, 08:30 EST
Primary Pair Impact : EURUSD

Expected: -330K

Previous: -240K

Impact of the US employment report had on EURUSD through the past 3 months

October 2008 US Change In Non-Farm Payrolls

The U.S. economy lost 240K jobs in October following a loss of 284K in the previous month, which raised the unemployment rate to a 14 year high of 6.5% from 6.1% in September. Moreover, mounting job losses pushed the total number of unemployed workers to a 25 year high of 10.08M in October, and conditions may only get worse as demands from home and abroad falter. Deteriorating fundamentals have certainly stoked fears that the U.S. will ultimately face its most severe recession in 25 years. Despite the extraordinary efforts taken on by policymakers, fears of a protracted downturn has already raised bets that the Fed will continue to ease policy further over the coming months, and would lower the interest rate below 1.00% at the December 16th policy meeting.

September 2008 US Change In Non-Farm Payrolls

Employment opportunities in the U.S. weakened as the economy lost jobs for the ninth consecutive month in September. Non-Farm payrolls slipped 159K from August to record its biggest decline in five years as fading growth prospects pushed firms to cutback on employment. The ongoing downturn in the housing sector paired with the credit crunch has certainly taken a toll on the world’s largest economy, and conditions may only get worse as the U.S. heads into a recession. Moreover, fading demands from the global economy has also spurred increased concerns for growth, and the Fed could be forced to increase their efforts over the coming months in order to avoid a severe slowdown in the economy.

August 2008 US Change In Non-Farm Payrolls

U.S. payrolls declined for the eighth consecutive month, which led the unemployment rate to surge to a five year high of 6.1% from 5.7% in July. The economy lost 84K jobs during August, which was much greater than the 75K decline expected by economist. Fading employment demands suggests that the downturn in the economy may last longer than the FOMC had initially anticipated, and conditions may only get worse as home values tumble lower while consumers continue to face higher living costs. Meanwhile, the dour outlook for the world’s largest economy has certainly left the Fed in a tight spot, and may lead the central bank to hold a neutral policy going forward.

How To Trade This Event Risk

U.S. Non-Farm payrolls are expected to contract another 330K in November after falling 240K in the previous month, and may trigger a selloff in the dollar as the unemployment rate pushes higher. Job cuts in the U.S. rose 148.8% in November to reach a six-year high of 181,671, while the ADP employment report showed that the economy lost 250K private-sector jobs during the same period. Fading employment opportunities have certainly taken a toll on the economy as the third quarter preliminary GDP reading was revised lower to -0.5% from an advanced reading of -0.3% as households continued to cutback on spending. Personal consumption, which is one of the biggest drivers of growth, fell 3.7% from the second quarter despite expectations for a 3.2% decline, and conditions may only get worse in the fourth quarter as retail spending plunged at a record pace in October. Fading demands from home and abroad has certainly dragged on businesses as well as demands for durable goods plunged 6.2% in October to record its steepest decline in two-years, and the dour outlook for the economy may lead firms to cutback on employment even further as U.S. heads into its longest recession since in 25 years. Fears of a deep and prolonged recession has raised speculation that the FOMC will lower the benchmark interest rate yet again at the December 16th policy meeting as Fed Fund Futures show investors are pricing-in a 60% chance for a 75bp cut, while they hold a 40% chance for a 50bp reduction. Meanwhile, a Bloomberg News survey showed that median forecast amongst the 69 economists polled expect a 25bp cut to 0.75%, which could stoke increased selling pressures for the greenback as investors look for lower borrowing costs. However, as risk trends continue to drive price action in the forex market, the U.S. dollar may benefit from its safe haven status.

Trading the given event risk clearly favors a bearish outlook for the U.S. dollar, but a better-than-expected NFP reading could support a rally in the greenback as the flight to safety continues. As a result, an enhanced payrolls release would set the stage for a bullish dollar trade, and a red, five-minute candle following the release would support a short entry on two lots of EURUSD. Once these conditions are met, we will place our initial stop above the nearby swing high (or reasonable distance), and this risk will determine our first target. Our second target will be based on our discretion, and to preserve our profits, we will move the stop on the second lot to breakeven once the first trade reaches its target.

However, the chances of an improved NFP reading remains bleak as the slew of employment data this week showed the ongoing weakness in the labor market. Therefore, a dismal payrolls release would certainly favor a long EURUSD trade, and we will follow the same strategy as the short mentioned above, just in reverse.

ECB Cuts Borrowing Costs At Record Pace as Growth Figures Fail to Impress

The European Central Bank lowered borrowing costs the most in its 10-year history as they cut the benchmark interest rate by 75bp to 2.50% from 3.25% as the third quarter preliminary GDP reading showed that the economy contracted 0.2% for the second consecutive quarter.

·EURUSD – The European Central Bank lowered borrowing costs by the most in its 10-year history as they cut the benchmark interest rate by 75bp to 2.50% from 3.25% as the third quarter preliminary GDP reading showed that the economy contracted 0.2% for the second consecutive quarter. Meanwhile the annual rate of growth was revised lower to 0.6% from 0.7%, and the outlook for growth may weaken further as demands deteriorate. The breakdown of the report showed that household consumption held flat despite a 0.2% decline in the previous quarter, while business investments fell another 0.6%, followed by a 0.9% decline in the second quarter. The considerable downturn has certainly heightened the downside risks for growth, and the dour outlook for the economy may drag on euro as the ECB is widely expected to ease policy further over the coming months. Discuss the topic and your trade ideas in the EUR/USD Forum.

·GBPUSD – The Bank of England lowered the benchmark interest rate by 100bp to 2.00% from 3.00%, which was inline with expectations, as policymakers expect private-sector spending to remain subdued over the coming months. The MPC went on to say that credit conditions remain far from normal despite the extraordinary efforts taken on by the BoE and the U.K. Treasury, and noted that further action will be needed in order to restore confidence in the credit market. Moreover, the central bank highlighted that they see a ‘substantial risk’ for inflation to fall below the BoE’s 2% target, which could lead the MPC to lower borrowing costs further over the coming months as fears of deflation intensify. Meanwhile, home prices in the U.K. fell another 2.6% in November, following a 2.4% decline in the previous month despite expectations for a 1.0% decline. The ongoing weakness in the housing market paired with tightening credit conditions have certainly taken a toll on the economy, and home prices may fall further in the months ahead as Europe’s second largest economy heads into is worst recession since 1991. Discuss the topic and your trade ideas in the GBP/USD Forum.

·USDCHF –The third quarter GDP reading for Switzerland held flat from the second quarter, while the previous reading was revised lower to 0.3% from an initial reading of 0.4%. In addition, the annual rate of growth slipped to 1.6% from 2.6%, confirming that economic activity is slowing at a rapid pace throughout Europe. The dour outlook for Switzerland may lead the Swiss National Bank to ease policy further over the coming months as the central bank expects the economy to contract in 2009, and conditions may only get worse as credit conditions remain far from normal. British Pound Could Rise Even

British Pound Could Rise Even If the Bank of England Slashes Rates

The outlook for the British pound looks dim as the Bank of England is widely anticipated to follow up their October 8 and November 6 rate cuts with yet another aggressive reduction on Thursday morning. Currently, the markets are betting on a 100bp cut to 2.00%, which would bring the Bank Rate its lowest level since 1939. However, the BOE's subsequent monetary policy statement will be just as important, as it will provide a gauge as to what the central bank will do next, and may determine the British pound's next move.

The Bank of England is widely anticipated to follow up their October 8 and November 6 rate cuts with yet another aggressive reduction at 7:00 ET on December 4. As of November 26, a Bloomberg News poll shows that the majority of economists surveyed thought that the BOE would reduce the Bank Rate by either 50 or 100 basis points, with the consensus forecast calling for the latter. Likewise, Credit Suisse overnight index swaps are fully pricing in a 100 basis point cut, and it seems increasingly likely that the BOE will slash the Bank Rate to the lowest since 1939, when rates were at 2.00%.

The BOE’s upcoming decision will be just one of many efforts put forth in an attempt to prevent the UK economy from falling into a prolonged recession, as Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling downgraded growth forecasts during his pre-budget report on November 24 to 0.75 percent in 2008, between -0.75 and -1.25 percent in 2009, and between 1.5 to 2 percent in 2010. Chancellor Darling also announced a £20 billion fiscal stimulus plan, which calls for a cut to the Value Added Tax (VAT) to 15 percent from 17.5 percent, boosts to state pensions and child benefits, extensions of employment support, and a housing support package, among other things. In order to accommodate for some of these costs, Chancellor Darling said that after April 2011 those earning at least £150,000 a year would face an income tax of 45 percent.

Risk Aversion Nearing an End?

Market turns occur at sentiment extremes and there is nothing more indicative of a sentiment extreme than a market story featured on a magazine cover. A few issues back, the Economist magazine cover read, "All You Need is Cash". This cover came in response to the across the board liquidation in assets / subsantial increase in value of cash (which is on the other side of every trade). The implications are that the liquidation seen in all assets since July, equities, commodities, and foreign currencies, may be near an end, if only for a number of months.

One way to play a recovery in 'risk' is through the EURJPY (or any cross), which declines as credit contracts (risk aversion) and rallies as credit expands (risk tolerance). The bottom line is that the magazine cover warns of a turn from extreme risk aversion, if only temporarily.
